Traditional Chinese Treatment, Proven Results

Many patients experience immediate comfort after an acupuncture treatment. Our licensed acupuncturists use sterile, single-use needles to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and support the body’s natural healing process by rebalancing the body’s chi, or qi, according to traditional Chinese medicine. A typical session runs about 30 minutes. Acupuncture is frequently combined with chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy — a common pairing for patients recovering from the physical trauma of an auto accident or managing chronic musculoskeletal pain.

When Acupuncture Helps Most

Patients turn to acupuncture for whiplash-related tension, chronic back and neck pain, headaches, and general muscular aches. As part of Cascade Health Center’s multidisciplinary team, our acupuncturists coordinate with your chiropractor to fold acupuncture into a single, cohesive treatment plan.

How Acupuncture Works

Acupuncture is the insertion of sterile, single-use needles into various points on the body to promote its normal functioning and relieve pain. It has been used for thousands of years to treat physical and mental/emotional conditions. At Cascade Health Center, many of our patients come in seeking treatment for physical trauma following a car accident but are also dealing with related emotional trauma as well. This is a prime example of a scenario that can improve with acupuncture’s ability to treat body, mind, and spirit.

During an acupuncture session, a specialist introduces thin needles through your skin at specific points of the body to stimulate nerves, connective tissue, and muscles. The whole treatment can last around thirty minutes, from the moment the practitioner starts introducing the needles to when he takes them out.

In Traditional Chinese medicine, it is believed that acupuncture helps re-balance the energy flow, known as chi or qi. Regardless of the belief, there’s proof that it helps relieve the discomfort associated with numerous health-related conditions such as:

  • Allergic rhinitis and other respiratory disorders
  • Neck and back pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Migraines, tension, and headaches
  • Stress
  • Menstrual cramps
  • Dental pain
